prelude to unfamiliar territory

I moved to admire a charming garden,
and to its calming zephyrs, I paused to listen;
with sweet morning dews that hugged its earth
and lovely blooms to soothe one’s breath…

though I know that this garden’s not yet owned,
to come near's still a trespass; like a guarded lawn;
but like a drifter’s journey to the unknown
he took risks just to catch a glimpse of the horizon.

so don’t take me wrong, for I knew where to stand,
though yes, I may have wished to stay in this ground;
but it’s like dreaming of dreams without any reply,
that I’d rather be waiting for the ocean to dry…

and go, I must, for I have to leave anyway
for tomorrow’s my last to admire you and stare;
and bring with me your beauty, stored but in my mind;
and bring with me your beauty, but never this dream.
